A solitary experience connecting art, therapy, and environment.

The Sign-Posts exhibit transformed outdoor space into a meditative encounter, where design became a vessel for reflection, care, and mental well-being.
Developed for the City of Malibu and showcased at AIGA’s 2021 Design Educators Conference, the installation explored the role of art as a form of therapy. Drawing inspiration from Alain de Botton and John Armstrong’s Art as Therapy, Sign-Posts invited visitors to walk, pause, and reflect.

Vision
Exhibitions are spaces where art and environment meet to explore what it means to be human.
They bridge the familiar and the unfamiliar, turning observation into participation. Sign-Posts reimagined exhibition as a reflective dialogue between viewer and space: an experience that invited presence, empathy, and understanding.
Literature

Research
An exploration of how space shapes emotion, and emotion shapes experience.
The exhibit centered on three elements - accessibility, engagement, and participation - each designed to influence and respond to its environment. This framework tested how tone and setting could foster deeper connection, turning observation into involvement.

Development
A study in building meaning through material and method.
Constructed over several weeks with locally sourced materials: 2x4s, rebar rods, and custom signage. The exhibit balanced form, function, and place. Typography drew inspiration from National Park design, linking the installation to nature and exploration.
Trifold Brochure

Distribution
Extending the experience beyond the exhibit itself.
A printed brochure and social media campaign connected audiences across physical and digital spaces. The brochure offered context - sharing the exhibit’s research, materials, and intent - while online storytelling invited broader participation. Together, they expanded the project’s reach and deepened its resonance.
